Enbrel Lawyer Helping Dangerous Drug Victims
Enbrel (etanercept) is used to treat the symptoms of moderate to severe rheumatoid arthritis. Enbrel works with the chemicals in the body to help control the inflammation caused by rheumatoid arthritis.
Shortly after the FDA approved Enbrel, reports revealed nearly thirty serious infections and six fatalities. In May 1999, the FDA alerted doctors to the risks and also required the manufacturer to increase the drug's warning label.
Some serious conditions, associated with Enbrel, include:
- Central Nervous System Disorders, including Multiple Sclerosis
- Serious infections, including Sepsis
- Tuberculosis
- Blood Disorders
- Vision Damage
The most common serious side effects of using Enbrel appear to be malignancies (cancers) and infections. Other, less common adverse side effects were hypertension, hypotension, cholecystitis, pancreatitis, gastrointestinal hemorrhage, heart failure, myocardial infarction (heart attack), myocardial ischemia, cerebral ischemia, bursitis, depression and dyspnea (shortness of breath).
