Lotronex

Lotronex is a popular prescription used to treat women suffering from irritable bowel syndrome. Lotronex was pulled off the market due to the growing reports linking it to severe intestinal side effects, including death. Lotronex can cause a form of intestinal inflammation called ischemic colitis, and constipation so severe that surgery may be required to remove the damaged intestine.

Lotronex has once again entered the market on a restricted marketing basis limited to severe diarrhea-predominant irritable bowel syndrome. When the Lotronex recall occurred, the FDA stated the recall was only until it could be determined how to best manage the risks of the drug. Now certain measures have been put into place that will, according to the FDA, help Lotronex patients better understand the risks of the drug.

There had been at least 8 deaths and 124 hospitalizations attributed to the use of Lotronex in the nine months the drug was on the market.

If you or loved one have been injured as a result of taking Lotronext, you may have a valid claim. Call Cellino & Barnes now at 1-800-621-2020 or contact us.
