Ortho Evra
Ortho Evra Attorney
Ortho Evra is the first birth control patch approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
According to the FDA, a recent study has shown women taking Ortho Evra double the risk of developing potentially fatal blood clots in comparison with women who take the birth-control pill.
At least a dozen women, most in their late teens and twenties, died last year alone due to blood clots that are believed to have been directly caused by the use of the Ortho Evra birth control patch, according to The Associated Press. Dozens more suffered strokes and other clot-related health issues.
On-going studies are looking into the risk of heart attacks and strokes among users of the contraceptive, as well as a potentially increased risk of breast cancer.
Even though the Ortho Evra birth control patch is successful in preventing unplanned pregnancies, it most certainly is not without its risks.
