Vytorin
Dangers of Vytorin
Merck and Schering-Plough are facing class action lawsuits. People who took the prescriptions Zetia and Vytorin claim these medications carry no medical benefits over cheaper, generic alternatives.
In a statement released by Andrew Cuomo, the New York Attorney General, he said:
"Drug companies are on notice that concealing critical information about life-saving prescription drugs, profiting at the expense of patients’ health, and wasting taxpayer dollars, is simply unacceptable."
The Zetia and Vytorin class action suits are seeking reimbursement for the cost of the prescription or for the difference between the cost of the prescription and what the generic would have cost.
The attorneys at Cellino & Barnes are evaluating potential individual lawsuits for people who may have suffered a heart attack or stroke after using the Vytorin. Although the drug apparently provides no medical benefit, there exists a risk of heart attack or stroke exist.
