Crib Recall
New York Injury Attorneys Helping Victims of Defective Cribs
On Monday, November 23, 2009, the Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the largest crib recall in United States history for a specific kind of crib made by Stork Craft Manufacturing Inc. of British Columbia, Canada.
The cribs being recalled are equipped with a side that drops down to allow easier access to your child. The plastic hardware on these cribs, however, can break or go missing. In addition, the drop side can easily be installed upside down.
These defects and installation problems have led to infants and toddlers getting trapped between the drop side and the mattress. In addition, injuries have occurred when the drop side detaches completely, resulting in children falling to the ground.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission has stated that there have been 15 cases of entrapments, four of them resulting in suffocation, along with 20 incidents of falls from cribs.
