Defective Tires

Defective tires are a continual problem, which causes rollover accidents and other fatal crashes.

Manufacturers, including Bridgestone/Firestone, Cooper, Goodyear, Uniroyal and Dunlop, have all issued recalls to repair or replace tires with a tendency to crack and/or split. These defective tires may cause separation of the tire belts from the casing. Manufacturers have a responsibility to notify consumers of any defective tire that may breakdown and cause a blowout or cause serious injuries or death.

Why are old tires so dangerous?

Even without a defect, a tire can break down over time. The inside of the tire can break down, which reduces the bond between the belts. This breakdown can cause tire tread separation. The break down can occur even when a tire is seldom used. Tire manufacturers know that tires older than six years old, can pose a safety hazard.

Goodyear RV Tires

Goodyear Tire Model #G159 (size 275/70 22.5) has been known to fail without warning and has caused serious injury and even death.  Goodyear tires have a history of tread problems and Model #G159 is another example of this. 

This model is still on the market although Goodyear and some of the RV manufacturers have begun limited recalls and tire replacement programs for the G159.  

A number of lawsuits have been filed by RV owners to recover damages caused by these tires, some of which have resulted in catastrophic injuries.
