August 20, 2010 - BP accounced their pressure test was successful. Under the guidance and approval of the National Incident Commander (NIC) and Unified Area Command, BP has been authorized to begin open water fishing operations from the MC252 Blow Out Preventer (BOP).

August 9, 2010 - BP announced today that it has established a trust and made a $3 billion initial deposit of the previously-announced $20 billion escrow account to pay legitimate claims arising from the Deepwater Horizon incident and the resulting oil and gas spill.

August 3, 2010 - Reports indicate that the oil spill leak in the Gulf of Mexico is nearing an end. The static kill is working, as the mud that was forced down a blown-out well is holding down the flow of oil.

Hurricane season is upon us, and with the massive oil spill in the Gulf, this may mean massive devastation and movement of the spill to other states.

Experts forecast that the 2010 hurricane season will be "active to extremely active."  The current site of the oil location is in the path of some of the worst storms ever recorded, including Hurricane Camille and Hurricane Katrina.
