  • July 25, 2000: Air France Concorde airliner crashed into a hotel after take off in Paris, killing all 113 passengers and crew on board.
  • Aug. 23, 2000: Gulf Air Airbus crashed into the Persian Gulf, killing all 143 passengers and crew on board.
  • July 4, 2001: Russian airliner crashed on its third approach to the runway for a refueling stop, killing all 145 people.
  • Sept. 11, 2001: Commercial airliners crash into World Trade Center and the Pentagon killing more than 2,900 in the worst terrorist attack on American soil.
  • Oct. 8, 2001: Scandinavian Airliner bound for Copenhagen hit a Cessna during takeoff killing 118 people. All on board both planes and four airport workers were killed. This was one of Italy's worst air disasters.
  • Nov. 12, 2001: American Airlines Airbus crashed into New York residential neighborhood minutes after take off. All 260 people on board and 5 on the ground were killed.
  • Feb. 12, 2002: Iranian airliner crashed into a mountain while trying to land, killing all 118 aboard.
  • April 15, 2002: Boeing 767 airliner crashed into a forested hillside near China airport due to inclement weather, killing 115 people. 38 passengers miraculously survived.
  • May 4, 2002: EAS airliner crashed into a heavily populated suburb of Kano shortly after takeoff, killing 148, which included victims on the ground
  • May 7, 2002: China Northern airliner crashed into the bay shortly after captain reported a fire in the cabin. All 112 on board died.
  • May 25, 2002: China Boeing 747 airliner bound for Hong Kong broke apart in midair and plunged into the sea 20 minutes after takeoff from Taipei. 225 passengers and crew died.
  • March 6, 2003: An Algerian Boeing 737 airliner crashed after takeoff from Tamanrasset, killing 102 people.
  • July 8, 2003: A Sudan Airways Boeing 737 airliner, experienced technical difficulties shortly after takeoff and crashed. One child survived and 116 died.
  • Dec. 25, 2003: A chartered Boeing 727 airliner bound for Beirut, Lebanon, crashed after hitting a building on takeoff. 140 people died.
  • Aug. 24, 2004: Two Russian planes, both departing from Moscow's airport, crashed within minutes of each other, killing a total of 89 people. Explosives were found on both flights.
  • Feb. 3, 2005: Afghan Kam Air Boeing 737 airliner, bound to Kabul crashed in the mountains, killing 104.
  • Aug. 14, 2005: A Helios Airways, Boeing 737 airliner lost cabin pressure and crashed when it ran out of fuel, killing all 121 on board.
  • Aug. 16, 2005: A chartered West Caribbean Airways airliner crashed in western Venezuela, killing all 160 on board.
  • Sept. 5, 2005: Mandala Airlines, Boeing 737 airliner, crashed shortly after takeoff, killing 104 on board and 39 on the ground; 13 passengers survived.
  • May 3, 2006: Armenin Airbus crashed in the Black Sea due to bad weather, killing all 113 aboard.
  • July 9, 2006: A Russian Airbus slid off the end of the runway just after landing due to brake failure, killing 127.
