Celexa (Citalopram Hydrobromide) is a prescription drug used to treat major depression.
Celexa is a newer antidepressant, which belongs to the SSRI (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor) group. Other drugs in that group include Paxil, Zoloft and Prozac. Celexa has been found to cause pulmonary hypertension in newborn babies. Pulmonary hypertension (PH) or pulmonary artery hypertension (PAH) is an increase in blood pressure in the pulmonary artery or lung. PH or PAH can result in a decreased exercise tolerance and right-sided heart failure.

- Agitation and anxiety
- Worsening of depression

- Aggressive and impulsive behavior
- Headache
- Confusion and memory problems
- Tremor
- Sweating
- Irritability
- Dizziness
- Coordination problems
- Shock like sensations, abnormal nerve sensations
- Nausea and anorexia
- Lethargy
