Pedestrian Accident – Wheelchair
I came from a background of doing some defense work before this, which I saw the insurance companies taking every advantage they could over people bringing a case against the insurance company, and that’s what led me to representing injured people.
One case in particular was an individual who was partially disabled with cerebral palsy, and he needed a wheelchair to get around. He was crossing a street, with the green light, in a crosswalk, when a vehicle attempted to beat the light, struck my client, and knocked him out of his wheelchair, and he sustained a partial
paralysis injury as a result of that.
Well the insurance company on that case took the position that he was already hurt. They also failed to disclose that they had extra coverage, an another one million dollars in umbrella coverage in that case. We sued the case. We had to go through depositions and all of the discovery, and we were on the eve of trial when the insurance company caved in and decided to offer a very substantial offer to my client. Now I couldn’t help him walk again and all I could do is try and get him a recompense from the insurance company, and I believe in that case, he was very satisfied with our services.
