Fall Driving Dangers

Fall Driving DangersROCHESTER, N.Y. – With the dog days of summer behind us, it’s time to prepare for the fall season. When most people think of autumn, school comes to mind alongside leaves changing colors, festivals, pumpkins, and football.

The season also brings some dangers for drivers, according to Rochester car accident attorneys at Cellino & Barnes.

“The changing seasons usually come with changing weather conditions and fewer daylight hours in Rochester,” car accident lawyer Ross Cellino said. “These changes could catch some drivers by surprise, making roads slightly more dangerous.”

In fact, any type of weather change can usually cause a spike in car accidents, according to federal statistics. Rain, for example, is the most dangerous type of weather for drivers and more car crashes occur in wet, soggy weather than in all other adverse weather conditions combined.

Falling leaves can also be a surprising hazard for drivers on the road.

“Leaves don’t provide the same type of traction as your modern roadway,” Cellino said. “Roads are constructed to minimize standing water but an accumulation of leaves can prevent rain water from running off the roadway.”

Fall also brings a wide variety of weather conditions, including flash-freezes. In these scenarios, certain roadways like bridges can quickly freeze over and turn to ice, making driving extremely hazardous.

Rochester car accident attorneys urge drivers to use caution and recheck your tire treads and inflation levels. These tips can help minimize your risk of getting in a car accident. However, if you do get injured in a seasonal car crash, contact an attorney who can help you through the recovery process.

Client Thanks

I would like to thank your firm for representing our family on behalf of my late husband. This whole process was, at times, difficult for us and sometimes painful. But, we were always in good hands as Brian and Maria are two of the hardest working and sincerest people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. They did a tremendous job.
