RituxanRituxan (rituximab) is used to treat patients with non-Hodgkins lymphoma and patients with rheumatoid arthritis whose disease has not responded to other treatment.

Although Rituxan is approved by the FDA for treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and non-Hodgkins lymphoma, doctors are permitted to use it for other purposes at their discretion.

On December 18, 2006, the FDA released a warning alerting healthcare professionals and patients of serious side effects that had been reported. Two patients taking Rituxan died of a fatal brain disease, known as “progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy” (“PML”). Both patients who died were taking the drug as an experiment to treat lupus.

Patients who have taken Rituxan and experience any major vision changes, balance or coordination problems or who confusion, should call their doctor immediately.

If you or a loved one has been diagnosed with PML and are currently taking or previously took Rituxan, call us now at (800) 888-8888 or contact us by clicking on a Rituxan Attorney.
